Volkswagen GX3 is a concept car created by Volkswagen. The GX3 was first introduced in 2006 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show. He was regarded as a very unusual because it was three-wheelers and sometimes considered more a concept than a motorcycle concept car, but it did feature high performance with a value of approximately U.S. $ 17000.
The GX3 used a cross-mounted 1.6 L I4 engine of the VW Lupo GTI. This engine gave the GX3 a power of 125 PS (92 kW) and 152 m N (112 lb ft) of torque. The GX3 could go from 0-100 km / h in 5.7 seconds and could reach a speed of 200 kph (125 mph). He used a six-speed manual transmission.
The design of the VW GX3 is atypical, with the fact that he used a double before the suspension. The VW GX3 was made on a tube of rolled steel Spaceframe and body panels. The exterior design is unique with being a two-seater, three-wheeled vehicle. It lacked a roof or windshield, and is intended mainly for fair-time environments, as a "weekend car". The design of the interior was very minimalist and fully functional.
There has been considerable speculation about the possibility of producing the GX3, Volkswagen powered with the announcement that production will depend on the public reaction to this concept. However, despite the extremely dynamic and positive public response to the concept and the intensive development of the chassis by Lotus Cars for the production, later, Volkswagen has concluded that it would not be able to sell the VW GX3 without complex and costly redesigns that alienate VW's target market and increase above the proposed price of U.S. $ 17000 base price. The company cited possible security issues that could lead to liability trial and decided that the concerns of legal fact-production is impossible.
